We can assist with the following transport services:

  • Vehicle licence renewals
  • Vehicle transfer of ownership

While we strive to accommodate most transactions promptly, advance bookings are essential for new applications such as, but not limited to, registration of tractors, Learners Permits/Keys 4 life and transfer of Drivers licenses/Interstate/Overseas.

ID Requirements

Information about which documents you need to provide when applying for a driver's licence, learner's permit or WA photo card.

The Western Australian Department of Transport has difference proof of identity requirements compared to other States and agencies. Please make sure you read the below information to understand what documents you will need to bring with you to your appointment.

When you apply for a driver’s licence, learner’s permit (including Keys for Life)  or WA photo card for the first time, you will need to visit one of our Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) centres, regional offices or Agents and provide:

  • A combination of five documents that show your full name, date of birth, and current address.
  • Original documents – we cannot accept laminated or photocopied documents, or photos of the document.
  • At least one document that shows your signature.

The name on all of your documents must be the same, or you must provide evidence of your change of name that clearly shows the link between your birth name and current name (i.e. a marriage certificate or name change certificate).

If you are unable to provide an original birth certificate, you will be required to apply for a replacement. You will need to contact the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages. If you were born in Western Australia, you can apply through the Albany Court House.
