We foster and encourage a love of reading in all people from an early age and promote the search for information, but it's not just all about books! Book Club Resources
The Denmark Public Library has over 80 Book Club Sets available for loan. Please contact the Library if you would like to reserve one of the sets. We will need to know the name of your group and when you will need the set. There are not always 10 copies, so please be aware that with some titles you may need to share.
Please note: we are no longer able to request Book Club books on Interlibrary Loan.
Frequently Asked Question: How Do I Start a Book Club?
Here are a few tips from our Library Services team to get you started:
- Get together a core group. Ask a group of friends, ask work colleagues or where ever you think there might be like minded people. An ideal size for a book club is 8 - 10 people and it’s a great idea to establish what sort of Book Group you want to be in, for example highly social or academic, or even fiction or non-fiction.
- Set a meeting and discuss how you want to run your group. You will need to organize who hosts your meeting, where and how often you would like to meet. Share contact details and discuss how you can keep connected.
- Name your group. Some groups like to give themselves a name (which is helpful if you are using the Library Book Club Sets)
- Keep a list of the titles you have read. It’s a great idea to keep track of the titles you have read with your group.

Children’s Services
Our amazing Library Services team doesn’t just curate books! Denmark Public Library hosts Story Time, Rhyme Time, Denmark Toy Library, Better Beginnings and Lego Club. We also provide regular school holiday activities, plus support and activities for the local home-school community.

Story Time
Fridays at 9.30am, hosted at the Denmark Public Library.
Come along with your child (aged 2-4 years) to enjoy stories, songs, rhymes and other activities.
Rhyme Time
Tuesdays at 9.30am, hosted at the Denmark Public Library.
Enjoy a special time with your child (aged 0-2 years) to share songs, rhymes and a simple story.
Denmark Toy Library
We are pleased to be able to offer all our library members access to our toy library. The goal of the toy library is to provide toys, games and puzzles of an educational nature that encourage a pleasurable learning experience and promote children's development in language, numeracy, social interaction, motor skills, imagination and creativity.

Better Beginnings
Better Beginnings is a state-wide family literacy program promoting reading and the love of books from an early age. It has been developed by the State Library of Western Australia and aims to support parents as their children's first teacher. Sharing a love of reading, rhyming, singing and talking with your child is one of the best things you can do to give them a head start in life.

First Wednesday of the month from 3.30pm, come along and join in the fun of creative Lego play.

Meeting Room Hire
The Library Meeting Room is available to hire for meetings. The room seats 20 people and has four tables available to use. Tea & coffee facilities are available however the hirer will need to bring their own tea & coffee supplies. Fees apply.

Public Internet Access: Conditions of Use
All computer access for research purposes in the Library is provided free of charge. Users must adhere to any booking arrangement imposed by the Library on the use of computers. Computers are available on a first come, first served basis and are provided as a self-service facility. Sessions will be limited to 60 minutes duration per user. Extension of time may be possible but is dependent on demand. Users must not intentionally access material which is pornographic, offensive or objectionable to other members of the public or staff. The Library has a duty under the WA Censorship Act 1996 and to the Broadcasting Services Amendment (Online Services) Act 1999 to ensure that material of this nature is not displayed in the Library. Users must not intentionally misuse these facilities, or fail to comply with staff directives on the use of this service. These facilities are to be used in a responsible manner, taking into consideration the laws on copyright, privacy, harassment and libel. The Library reserves the right to monitor and log the use of computers. The Denmark Public Library does not guarantee or accept any liability for the information's accuracy, authoritativeness, timeliness or usefulness for a particular purpose. The Denmark Public Library shall have no liability for any direct or indirect or consequential damages related to the use of the information contained herein. The Library can accept no responsibility for any error or damage to property caused by equipment, nor for any consequential loss or damage to disks, data or programs. Children are permitted to use the internet unattended, but supervision or restriction of a child's access to the internet is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian. For the Library's purpose, a child is defined as a person less than 18 years of age. Users shall no attempt to use workstations for any purpose other than the options provided on the system and are not permitted to modify the installed hardware or software in any way. Tampering with, altering, editing, or damaging computer hardware or software will be grounds for revocation of computer use privileges, any may result in suspension of library privileges. Users must pay the current charges for all pages printed including test pages and wastage not caused by printer malfunction. The Library reserves the right to: Deny access or to restrict access to certain sites and/or material. Terminate a User's internet privileges if any of these conditions are breached. Terminate use of the computer without recompense at its absolute discretion.
