At the November Ordinary Council Meeting held yesterday, contractor Neo Civil was awarded the tender for sea wall removal and reconstruction at Ocean Beach.
The decision, which represents a major milestone in the Ocean Beach redevelopment project, came after a late item was introduced to the meeting agenda.
Council made the decision to award the tender after a competitive process, and now expects to consider a recommendation to award a tender for the broader redevelopment works at the December Ordinary Council Meeting after tender applications for that part of the project close on 6 December.
Once both tenders are awarded, plans are to get the sea wall and Ocean Beach redevelopment underway in February 2024, after the peak visitation period has passed.
The project will cause some disruptions and more information about the roll out will be shared with our community when both contractors have had their chance to plan their approach to site access with appropriate consideration of public safety.
The Shire will closely work with the Denmark Surf Life Saving Club and contractors to keep community members informed of progress at Ocean Beach during the works and is committed to providing information about any potential closures and disruptions as early as possible.
In the meantime, community members are encouraged to subscribe to receive updates about the Ocean Beach project at: https://www.yourdenmark.wa.gov.au/ocean-to-channel-recreation-precinct
Funding for this project is provided through the CoastWA Hotspot Coastal Adaption and Protection (H-CAP) Major Project Fund.
