A new committee has been formed at the Shire of Denmark in an effort to ensure a sustainable future for our community.
The idea behind the creation of the new Sustainable Projects Committee was to develop actions and processes to make the Shire of Denmark more sustainable as an organisation, but also to support the broader community to become more sustainable.
The committee will also review built projects in line with Strategic Community Plan objectives, as well as community sentiment and aspiration.
At the March Ordinary Council Meeting, Council voted to establish the Sustainable Projects Committee and endorsed four Councillors to join staff members on the committee.
Denmark Shire President Ceinwen Gearon said the formation of the new committee was the natural next step for the Shire to take as the organisation does what it can to reduce its footprint.
“We’re proud to be continuing to work together to come up with projects and approaches which keep sustainability as a priority in everything we do,” Cr Gearon said.
The committee is made up of Shire staff and Councillors, with the intention to invite external agencies and other stakeholders to participate in discussions relevant to their area of interest.
