The Denmark Recreation Centre support for sport and recreation goes beyond the centre court.
Recently, Denmark Recreation Centre trainees Abi Mathews and Jack Valley were both presented with their certificate of completion by ATC Work Smart Industry Consultant Ryan Bastan.
Over the past year, Abi and Jack completed their Certificate in Sport and Recreation Progress at the Denmark Recreation Centre.
During this time, the students were able to get hands on industry experience, learning how to facilitate programs and assist with the day-to-day operations at the centre.
Denmark Shire President Ceinwen Gearon said the Shire hosts several traineeships every year at the Denmark Public Library, Administration Centre and Denmark Recreation Centre.
“It’s a great opportunity for our local students to gain skills and knowledge as they transition from school into the workforce,” Dr Gearon said.
The traineeship program is a partnership between the Denmark High School, ATC Work Smart, TAFE and the Shire of Denmark.
Students interested in a traineeship or work experience should contact their school administrators for further information.
