A community survey is now open for contributions as part of the Shire of Denmark Coastal Reserves Management Plan review.
The survey looks to capture community values, priorities and ideas which will feed into the reviewed strategic document which will outline priorities for monitoring, intervention and forward planning around environmental, social and cultural values on coastal reserves within the Shire of Denmark.
Shire of Denmark Sustainability Officer Yvette Caruso said this was a chance for the community to make sure they have their say on the protection of the coastal environment within the Shire of Denmark.
“We know the long-term protection of our coastal reserves from Ocean Beach to Peaceful Bay is a community priority, so we would like to gain input about specific community values for these reserves,” Ms Caruso said.
“We also want community help to identify areas for improved management in our Shire coastal reserves.”
The survey is available online at www.yourdenmark.wa.gov.au/coastal-protection and will remain open until Wednesday 31 May. Hardcopies are available on request.
A community workshop will also be held on Wednesday 24 May from 5:30-7:30pm at the Shire of Denmark Reception Room to gather additional feedback. RSVP to attend at enquiries@denmark.wa.gov.au or call 9848 0300.
The Shire has engaged consultant Land Insights in collaboration with Seashore Engineering to deliver the review, coastal hazard assessment and associated community consultation which flows on from the Parry Beach Master Planning community consultation.
This project is co-funded by the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage through a Coastal Management Plan grant.
