Local Planning Policy No. 44 identifies types of development that do not need planning approval (before a building permit).
On 15 August 2023 the Council adopted a draft revised Policy for public consultation. The draft revised Policy proposes to increase the range of development that does not need approval, particularly for minor and incidental works.
Types of development that are identified in the Policy and meet the standards specified will not need planning approval, removing one step in the approvals process and reducing ‘red tape’ for common types of development.
For some types of development a building permit may still be required – the Shire’s Planning and Building staff are available to discuss how changes to this Policy relate to your project and advise on the approvals you will need before getting started.
Community feedback is invited on the draft revised policy, which can be viewed at www.yourdenmark.wa.gov.au or at the Shire’s Administration office.

Plans of the proposal can be viewed at Your Denmark or at the Shire's offices.
Public consultation is open until Monday 25th September 2023
