Denmark Shire Council last night voted to approve eScooter hire company Beam to operate in Denmark from January on a 12-month trial basis.
Shire of Denmark CEO David Schober said the Shire is supportive of e-transport.
“We’re happy to partner with Beam on this trial to offer sustainable transport options locally,” Mr Schober said.
Sustainable travel and transport is a key sustainability pillar outlined in the Shire’s Sustainability Strategy which was endorsed by Council in March 2021.
Beam will be required to comply with an extensive list of conditions on their approval to operate in the Shire of Denmark, including enforced ‘slow zones’ in high-foot traffic areas such as Strickland St, ‘no-ride zones’ and community education and training sessions.
A total of 80 eScooters will appear in Denmark soon, with community members and visitors encouraged to make the most of customer service and support provided by Beam.
More details will be available soon.
