Thanks to strong community participation in the recent Strategic Community Plan major review, Council last week adopted a budget which delivers on some key wishes voiced by the resident community at Peaceful Bay.
The beautiful bay in the west of the Shire has long needed new fish cleaning facilities and improved public toilet access to address increasing environmental impacts caused by high levels of visitation.
Accordingly, the 2023/24 budget allocates $25,000 for new fish cleaning facilities and $50,000 for public toilet facility expansion in a win for the local community and visitors.
Denmark Shire President Ceinwen Gearon said she was pleased to see funding for two projects important to the Peaceful Bay community approved.
“Our community members in Peaceful Bay were strong contributors to our Strategic Community Plan major review engagement, making their voices clearly heard about what matters most to them,” Dr Gearon said.
“These may not be major capital works projects, but from what we’ve heard through the engagement process, the addition of a new fish cleaning facility and better public toilet provision will make a positive difference to the area.”
“We look forward to sharing more on the timeline of these projects in the coming months.”
